About Us

Who are the
Lawyers Against Transphobia?

Lawyers Against Transphobia is a coalition of lawyers, teachers, parents, organizers, and community workers founded on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples (so-called British Columbia) and active across so-called Canada. Our mission is to address and combat transphobia by advocating for the rights and dignity of transgender people within the justice system and through public education. We respond to incidents of transphobia as they happen and offer support and resources to those who need them.

Our Vision

We envision a society where Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people can live openly and authentically without fear of discrimination or violence. By working together with schools, communities, and policymakers, we strive to ensure that the rights of transgender people are upheld and respected.

Our Efforts Include

  • Advocacy: Speaking out against transphobia in legal, educational, and public forums.
  • Legal Support: Providing guidance and representation in cases involving transphobic actions or legislation.
  • Education: Offering resources and training to help schools and organizations create inclusive environments.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with various stakeholders to promote understanding and acceptance of transgender individuals.
