Who are the
Lawyers Against Transphobia?

Lawyers Against Transphobia are a dedicated coalition of over 50 lawyers, teachers, parents, and justice workers primarily based in British Columbia, with members from across Canada. Our mission is to address and combat transphobia by advocating for the rights and dignity of transgender individuals within the legal profession, courts, and media. We are committed to responding to incidents of transphobia as they occur and providing support and resources to those affected.

Our Vision

We envision a society where transgender individuals can live openly and authentically without fear of discrimination or violence. By working together with schools, communities, and policymakers, we strive to ensure that the rights of transgender people are upheld and respected.

Our Efforts Include

  • Advocacy: Speaking out against transphobia in legal, educational, and public forums.
  • Legal Support: Providing guidance and representation in cases involving transphobic actions or legislation.
  • Education: Offering resources and training to help schools and organizations create inclusive environments.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborating with various stakeholders to promote understanding and acceptance of transgender individuals.
